Francis Lodico Obituary

Francis Charles Lodico

April 16, 1944 - July 18, 2021

Francis Charles Lodico (Fran), age 77, of Monroe, passed away unexpectedly the afternoon of July 18, 2021 at his home.

Fran was born on April 16, 1944 in Trenton, MI to the late Frank and Helen (Snyder) Lodico. He was a 1961 graduate of Airport High School. Following graduation Fran enlisted and served in the Air Force from 1962 until 1966. Upon his discharge he went to work for the Ford Motor Company. Beginning a career that would span 39 years.

In late 1966, Fran met Sharon Oster and as he described it, "it was love at first sight." They married at Faith Lutheran Church on January 21, 1967 and were married for nearly 53 years before Sharon's passing in November of 2019. They were blessed with three daughters Shelly, Sherry, and Amanda.

Fran worked as a journeymen electrician at the Woodhaven Stamping plant for 28 years. He took advantage of educational opportunities and earned an Associate, Bachelors, and Masters Degrees from Baker College. This provided him the chance to move into Engineering at Dearborn, a position he held for 11 years, until his retirement in 2005.

Fran was hard working and shared his talents doing numerous electrical jobs for friends and family throughout his lifetime. He could always be counted on to help with whatever project someone had going on. In his retirement he spent countless hours helping his son-in-law farm. Once Fran started a field he would not get off the tractor until he was finished, the only exception being his Tuesday night golf league.

Fran enjoyed life and had a variety of interests. During his lifetime he was active in trapshooting, softball, bowling, and golf. Fran enjoyed the competition, the fellowship, and having a beer afterwards. He and Sharon has a close group of life-long friends, who were more like family. Together they shared many vacations and informal get-together s where Fran often shared his love for cooking. As their grandchildren grew, Papa rarely missed an event.

Fran was a member of Good Shepard Lutheran Church of Monroe. He served the congregation in several capacities including ushering, men's club, church council, cooking for fellowship events, and maintenance projects.

Fran is survived by his daughters: Shelly (Dwight) Lassey, Sherry (Jeff) Brant, and Amanda Lodico. Grandchildren: Graham & Greer Lassey, Regan Brant, and Zack Lake. His brother: Art Lodico, and sister: Sue Lodico. He was preceded in death by his wife: Sharon Lodico, grandson: John Francis Lake, his parents, and brothers: Chuck & Tom Lodico.
