Florence I. Wright
November 11, 1927 – April 27, 2023
Florence Irene Wright, age 95 of Monroe, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at her home under hospice care.
Born November 11, 1927 in Lima, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late William and Rose (Hoorman) Drexler. Florence graduated from Lincoln Consolidated High School in Ypsilanti, MI in 1947.
Florence met and married the love of her life: Albert R. Wright on July 26, 1947 in Ida, MI. She was a loving homemaker to her husband and their four children growing up. Together, they worked hard on their farm in Monroe; doing all the necessary chores that had to get done. They also volunteered at the Old McDonald Farm during the Monroe County Fair. Both also enjoyed travelling in their camper with friends and family. They spent over 73 wonderful years together before Albert’s passing in 2021.
Florence was a former member of the East Raisinville Frenchtown United Methodist Church. She is now a current member of Faith United Methodist Church. In her free time, when she wasn’t actively working on the farm, she liked to can her vegetables and take care of her garden. Each day she always made a point to take a walk on the farm. Most importantly, she enjoyed spending quality time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Anyone who entered her home was welcomed with a plate of home baked cookies to enjoy.
To cherish her memory, Florence leaves two sons: Ronald (Yvonne) Wright of Monroe and Dennis (Margie) Wright of Monroe; two daughters: Karen Davis of Newport and Darlene (Bill) Presley of Morley, MI; ten grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, with another two on the way; and siblings: Albert Drexler of Adrian and Sister Rita Drexler of Adrian.
In addition to her parents, Florence was preceded in death by her husband: Albert Wright; siblings: Donald Drexler, Carl Drexler, James Drexler, Vera Hartman, and one grandchild: Paula Presley.
