July 17, 1937 – January 16, 2022

Florence Catherine Neely-Hazeltine, age 84 of LaSalle, Michigan went home to be with the Lord peacefully on Sunday: January 16, 2022 surrounded by her eight children.

Born July 17, 1937, in Tazewell, Tennessee, Florence was the daughter of the late Odas and Cretie (Drummonds) Sproles. Florence attended and graduated from Erie Mason High School in 1986. On December 22, 1956, Florence married Wade Neely in Angola, Indiana. They were married for 33 years before his passing on June 14, 1990. She then married Tommy Hazeltine on September 5, 1998, in Monroe. They spent over six years together before his passing on January 13, 2005.

Florence was a lifelong homemaker to her family. However, after her children were grown, she worked as a housekeeper at Beach Nursing Home for 15 years. Florence was a member of True Gospel Missionary Baptist Church in Monroe. She loved the Lord and her church. Florence enjoyed crocheting, cooking, baking, and gardening. She made sure no one ever left her house hungry. Most importantly, Florence loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren immensely.  

To cherish her memory, Florence leaves her children: Freda Rana Mullins, Leonard (Lois) Neely, Nancy (Ike) Pope, Patricia Neely, Verlin Neely, Diana Coker, Paul (Tonia) Neely, and Brenda (Mike) Suydam; grandchildren: Joshua (Carly) Neely, Jeremy (Joanna) Neely, Jessica (Drew) Johnson, Andrea (Steve) Evers, Kristina (Bryan) Lynch, Kyle (Melanie) Pope, Dave (Cassandra) Mullins, Justin (Chelsea) Coker, Zach Neely, Wade Neely, Megan Neely, Brandon Suydam, Chloe Suydam, Halle Suydam, Samuel Neely, and Benjamin Neely; great-grandchildren: Madison, Lucas, Katherine, and Owen Neely, Grace and DellaMae Johnson, Noah and Natalie Lynch, Kylee and Kaleb Pope, Gabriel Mullins, Chance, Dakota, and Olivia Coker; Special mention to ; nephews: Don Neely, Rusty Neely, and Richard Neely; sister Elgie Grabitz; and brother Harold Drummonds.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Florence is preceded in death by a son, David Neely, and brother, Jim Sproles.

Family and friends may visit on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Rupp Funeral Home from 12:00 to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will take place on Friday, January 21, 2022, at Rupp Funeral Home starting at 11:00 am. Rev. Eddie Howard and Rev. John Bullard will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
