Ervin J. Sauers
March 4, 1942 – June 16, 2022
Ervin John Sauers, age 80, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2022, at ProMedica Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Monroe.
Born March 4, 1942, in Wyandotte, Michigan, Ervin was the son of the late Ervin and Hattie (Olender) Sauers. Most of his younger years were spent down river where he attended Romulus High School. Ervin eventually moved to Monroe with his parents in 1968. He began working in construction at the Enrico Fermi Power Plant.
Ervin then married the love of his life, Mildred Charlene Miller, on December 31, 1970. They raised a family and spent over 46 wonderful years together before Mildred’s passing in 2016.
His next employment was at the Chrysler Manufacturing Plant. Ervin worked there until 1978 when he moved his family to Riverside, California. He spent the next 17 years in direct sales as well as establishing a successful janitorial during that time. He returned to Monroe in 1996 and worked until retirement at Flat Rock Metals.
Ervin was a member of Bethel Christian Center where he served as an usher and a teacher. He was mostly known for his PaPa Patches character at Patches Kids Club. Ervin was a kind and loving man and was helpful to all. He was a hard worker who was a good provider for his family.
To cherish his memory, Ervin leaves his children: Sandra (Jahan) Naghshineh and Randy (Melissa) Miller; eight grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sisters: Irene (John) Kunasz, Patty (Donald) Teal, Evelyn (Frank) Morris, and Teresa (Richard) Nylos; son-in-law, Tom Omler; and a sister-in-law, Judy Sauers.
In addition to his parents, Ervin is preceded in death by his wife, Mildred; daughter, Pamela Omler; and brothers: Leo Sauers and Charles Sauers.
Family and friends are invited to a graveside service for Ervin on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at Roselawn Memorial Park beginning at 11:00 am. Burial will follow immediately.
