Elmer Schulz Obituary

Elmer Charles Schulz

March 23, 1929 – January 4, 2025

Elmer Charles Schulz, age 95 of Carleton, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Corewell Health in Trenton.

Born March 23, 1929, in Monroe, he was the son of the late Elmer and Odella (Masson) Schulz. At a young age, Elmer’s father passed away and he was raised by Albert Kronsperger. Elmer served his country honorably in the United States Navy from 1947 until 1949. He was stationed in Hawaii and was assigned to a Navel Weather Ship. On January 28, 1950, Elmer married Virginia Stoddard and together they raised four children. Sadly, after 55 years of marriage, Virginia passed. He earned his GED and went on to work for the Southgate Fire Department, serving as Fire Chief before retiring in 1975.

Elmer was a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters and the Lions Club. He lived in northern Michigan, on Intermediate Lake in Central Lake Michigan for many years and later spent summers here and winters in Florida. Elmer was a blessed man who loved and cherished his family. He never spoke a cross- word about anyone and will be truly missed by all that knew and loved him.

In his spare time, he enjoyed watching the Detroit Lions, the Detroit Tigers, and University of Michigan football. Elmer was well versed in fixing things.

To cherish his memory Elmer leaves behind four children: Gerard (Susan) Schulz, Richard (Diane) Schulz, Cindy (David) Schafer, and Judy (George) Sitek; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth (Marsha) Kronsperger; one sister, Carol (Bill) Snyder.

Elmer was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia and one brother, Edward Kronsperger.

Family and friends may visit from 2 p.m. until services celebrating his life beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Rupp funeral Home, 2345 South Custer Road, Monroe, MI, 48161. Elmer will be laid to rest alongside his wife at St. Jospeh Cemetery.
