Edward John McCormick, III

Edward John McCormick, III, age 48 of Monroe, passed away at home on Friday, March 26, 2021.

He was born on December 16, 1972 in Monroe. E.J. was one of five children of Edward Jr. and Patricia (Dorn) McCormick. E.J. graduated from St. Mary Catholic Central High School and then went on to graduate from Eastern Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in finance. He was a member of the Eastern Michigan University Varsity Golf Team and was named the Scholar Athlete of the Year in his senior year.

E.J. was a member of Redeemer Baptist Church in Monroe and the Monroe Golf & Country Club for many years. In his free time, E.J. loved to spend time with his five boys. He was also an avid and skilled golfer and was proud to have made six holes-in-one throughout his life. E.J. also won the Monroe Golf and Country Club Men’s Club Championship twice.

To cherish his memory, E.J. leaves his loving mother, Patricia McCormick; the mother of his children, Andrea McCormick; five children: Edward John, IV, Samuel, Alex, Levi, and Andrew McCormick; and four siblings: Patricia (J.P. Hayward) McCormick, Mark McCormick, Michael (Janel) McCormick, and Karin (Bill) McLinden and many nieces and nephews.

E.J. is preceded in death by his father, Edward J. McCormick, Jr.

A private visitation and funeral service will take place for family only.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in E.J.'s honor at any 5/3rd bank to the “McCormick Boys Benefit Fund.”
