Earl Brown, age 73 of Monroe, went home to be with his Lord and Savior in his home at 2:23 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2024, after an eight month long, valiant battle with esophageal cancer.

Born August 8, 1951, in Monroe, he is the son of the late Clarence and Bethel (Evans) Brown. Earl attended Monroe High School, graduating with the class of 1969. He married Linda McCollum on October 23, 2008 at Faith Baptist Church in Monroe. Earl worked in several fields throughout his life, finding his true passion later in life working in funeral service and finally pastoring at Rockwood Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to pastoring a church, Earl sang with the Calvary Way Quartet for many years. He worked for several years, beginning in 2010, at Bennett Funeral Service. In 2012, after Mr. Bennett’s retirement, Earl began working with Purse Funeral Home in Adrian, where he continued to serve families until his passing. He and owner, Gary Purse, became close friends over the past twelve years. Earl was a simple man, who could often be found tinkering in his garage and could fix anything. He also enjoyed spending time with Linda watching sunsets.

To cherish his memory, Earl leaves his beloved wife, Linda Brown of Monroe; stepchildren Jason (Shannon) Willets and Sarah (Josh) Klinger; daughters, Stacie (Manuel) Abitia and Leslie Brown; eleven grandchildren: Jake Willets, Jayanna Willets, Annabelle Klinger, Hayden Klinger, Jade (Nick) Smith, Kenna (Malikk) Carlton, Elyse (Kayne) Adams, Ellie Peters, Heather Lucas, Ashton Hamilton, and Austin Hamilton; and one brother, Ron (Connie) Brown.

Family and friends may visit from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Rupp Funeral Home, 2345 S. Custer Road, Monroe, MI 48161, where services celebrating his life will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 31, 2024. Rev. Ronald Brown, Earl’s brother, will officiate. Interment will follow at LaSalle Township Cemetery.
