Dr. Anne M. Hummer, PhD
September 4, 1943 – July 1, 2026
Dr. Anne M. Warnement Hummer, PhD died July 1, 2026, at her home in Monroe, MI with her husband by her side. Anne, 82, was the 3rd daughter born to Elmer and Helen Warnement in Tiffin, OH, on September 4, 1943. She was followed by four sisters and finally the family’s baby brother. She attended St. Joseph grade school and Calvert High School in Tiffin.
Anne met and married the love of her life, Thomas, in 1966 in Tiffin. They spent over 60 wonderful years together. She was awarded her RN degree from Mercy School of Nursing, Toledo, OH; a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Lourdes College, Toledo, OH; a master’s degree in Health Education and a PhD in Curriculum Development from the University of Toledo.
She started her career as an Instructor at Mercy School of Nursing; taught part time for Monroe County Community College (Michigan) as well as Lourdes and finished her 35-year career as an Assistant Professor of Nursing at the University of Detroit Mercy. While at Detroit Mercy, she was invited to be a “site visitor” to help accredit nursing programs and traveled to other campuses to complete the assessments.
The last 27 years of her life she was able to enjoy her true passion with her husband – antiques and collectibles. You would always find her first in line at church rummage sales and at garage sales in the Michigan and Ohio area. Her company, Back in Time, Inc., had various locations in Antique malls during this time.
Her unexpected death will be felt by all family members as Anne always stepped in whenever family members needed help. She is survived by her husband, Tom, sisters, Judy Bour, Alice Kosnikowski, Ruth Rahla, brother, John (Sue). She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Jane Hartsig, Mary Bell and Kay Zilka.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Mary Church, Monroe, MI on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 11:00 am with Fr. David Burgard officiating. A second Mass will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin, OH, on Thursday, July 23, 2026, with Mass starting at 10 am, with burial of cremains following at St. Joseph Cemetery, Tiffin.
