Douglas E. Bunge
April 3, 1952 – December 30, 2023
Douglas Edwin Bunge, age 71 of Beverly Hills, Florida, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at the Seven Rivers Hospital in Crystal River, FL.
Born April 3, 1952, Doug was the son of the late Eugene Albert and Carol Jean (Waldecker) Bunge. Doug was baptized and confirmed at St. John Waltz Lutheran Church in New Boston, MI.
Doug worked for Chrysler Automotive at the Trenton Engine Plant. He spent over 31 years there before retiring in January of 2002. Doug was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Summerfield, FL. The families extend a special thank you to Pastor Dave Connell for the many visits and prayers.
In his free time, Doug liked car racing, bowling, making quilts- many of which he donated to church. He liked to collect miniature John Deere Tractors. Doug loved going to any amusement park and was an avid roller coaster rider.
Doug is survived by Dianne Sorrell; children: Amie (Nathan) Beard, Anastasia (Leandro) Caro, Michael (Mackenzie) Bunge, and Christopher Bunge; many grandchildren & great grandchildren; brother: Steven (Julie) Bunge; stepchildren: Tammy & Pere Manjarrez and Jennifer Sorrell; five step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents: Eugene and Carol Bunge, Doug is preceded in death by siblings: Eugene Jr., Diane, stillborn baby, and Ronald.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial gathering at East Ida Immanuel Lutheran Church at 6272 W. Albain Road, Monroe, MI, 48161 on Sunday, January 28, 2024, starting at 2 pm, with dinner to follow. The funeral service will be livestreamed on the Church facebook account through their website at https://www.facebook.com/EastIdaImmanuelLutheranChurch/. Officiating is Pastor Curtis Garland. Interment of cremains will be on Monday, January 29, 2024, at Roselawn Memorial Park at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Doug are suggested to the Bunge family or East Ida Immanuel Lutheran Church of Monroe.
