Dorothy Beatrice Giebel, age 88, of Monroe, Michigan, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, under the compassionate care of Wellspring Lutheran Services and Heartland Hospice. Born on March 23, 1938, in Monroe, Michigan, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Horace and Irene (Butler) Heck.

A lifelong resident of Monroe, Dorothy graduated from Monroe High School in 1956. On June 29, 1957, she married the love of her life, Robert Giebel Sr., and together they shared 68 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2023. Dorothy dedicated many years of service to the Kellogg Eye Center at the University of Michigan, where she worked as a secretary before retiring.

Dorothy was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Monroe. She enjoyed crafting, sewing, ballroom dancing, and vacationing, especially going on cruises. She cherished time spent with family and friends and was especially proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her warm heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering faith will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Robert (Connie) Giebel Jr.; her daughter, Tamara Harrison; her grandchildren, Kristin (Bryan) Gold, Josh (Erin) Giebel, and Zachary (Mary Hannah) Giebel; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Gabi, Abbey, Jerimiah, Jackson, Ava, Anderson, and Annebelle.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Giebel Sr.; parents, Horace and Irene Heck; sister, Delores Brooks; brother, Glen Heck; and son-in-law, Steve Harrison.

Family and friends may gather on Sunday, June 21, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Rupp Funeral Home, 2345 S. Custer Road, Monroe, MI 48161. Services celebrating her life will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Rev. Kim Semran and Rev. Cindy Semran will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Dorothy’s life was marked by devotion to her family, dedication to her work, and a steadfast faith in God. Her legacy of kindness, service, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
