Donna B. Crook
August 9, 1933-October 12, 2023
Donna Bell Crook, age 90 of Monroe, went home to be with Jesus on the morning of Thursday October 12, 2023.
Donna Bell was born August 9, 1933 in Tazewell, TN to the late James and Jossie (Bollinger) Finley. She met and married the love of her life, Thomas “TJ” Crook, on November 8, 1951. A piece of Donna Bell’s heart went missing when TJ passed away October 27, 2014.
For much of her life, Donna Bell was a substitute teacher. She enjoyed teaching the next generation and helping guide them towards being outstanding citizens. This was also apparent in how she took great pride in being a homemaker, tending to her and TJ’s home and raising their four children with love and admiration.
In her spare time, Donna Bell loved to paint. She created absolute masterpieces with the stroke of a brush. Donna Bell and TJ also worked as a creative team; TJ would create wood carvings and Donna Bell would meticulously paint them. They attended First Baptist Church for many years, but Donna Bell would eventually find herself attending Monroe Missionary Baptist Church later in life. Above all else, Donna Bell loved spending time with her family and friends, particularly all her lovely grandchildren.
Family and friends are welcome to visit from 3-7pm on Monday October 16, 2023 at Rupp Funeral Home, where a celebration of life will be held at 11am on Tuesday October 17, 2023. All are welcome at 10am prior to the service. Pastor Roy Southerland will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
To cherish her memory, Donna Bell leaves her four children: Beth Ann (John) Hayter of Springfield, MO, Hubert “Jim” (Annette) Crook of LaSalle, MI, David (Leslie) Crook of Monroe, MI, and Lee Ann Crook of West Palm Beach, FL; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband, Donna Bell is also preceded in death by all seven of her siblings: Ed, Carl, Roy, Jay, and Gene Finley; and Hannah O’Neil and Shirley Simpson.
Anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution in Donna Bell’s honor are asked to please consider Monroe Missionary Baptist Church.
