Donald Bryce Sampsel, age 91 or Monroe, passed away on the morning of September 26, 2023 at Wellsprings Lutheran Services, Monroe Campus.

Donald was born May 4, 1932, in Monroe. He was the son of the late Vivian (Dunbar) and Floyd Sampsel. Donald graduated from Monroe High School with the class of 1949. Donald also served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War time period. He married Marjorie Ann Brown 01/11/1953 and she preceded him in death Mar. 31, 2005. He retired after 45 years working for Dunbar Industries as a carpenter and later as a superintendent.

Donald liked square dancing, all things farming, especially steam tractors. Donald also loved tractor-pulls and would travel down to Bowling Green, Ohio to watch the championships whenever he was able. He enjoyed gardening and traveled the country in their camper with his family for most of his life. Most that knew Donald would describe him as a good friend that would do anything he could to help those he cared for.

Donald was preceded in death by daughter, Ellen (Sampsel) Morgan, friend Larry Benore and sister Verlynne (Sampsel) Callihan.

Donald is survived by sons, Gerald (Barbara) Sampsel and Ross (Gail) Sampsel and friend Dave Jones, along with 5 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Friends and family may call Sunday, Oct 1, 2023, from the hours of 1p until 5p with the funeral taking place Monday, at 11a at the Rupp Funeral Home with Pastor Jason Aaron officiating. The committal service will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park immediately following the service. The Rupp family is honored to be assisting the family of Donald Sampsel in their time of need.
