Don Edward Torrance, age 74 of Monroe, passed away the evening of Memorial Day, Monday, May 31, 2021, at the ProMedica Monroe Skilled Care and Rehab Facility.

Born November 4, 1946, in Sydney, Ohio. He was the son of the late S.L. and Edith (Mae) Torrance. Later, he met the love of his life: Rebecca Annette. After decades of knowing each other, they got married on April 3, 1987 in Toledo, Ohio. They spent over 12 wonderful married years together before Rebecca’s passing in 1999.

Don first worked at Paul’s Bakery for many years before becoming a cab driver at Rays Taxicab in Monroe for decades before retiring. Don was also a Ham Radio Operator with his call handle as KC8EHC and a CD radio operator with the call handle: Cheyenne.

In Don’s free time, he enjoyed going fishing. Later on, he also liked to play computer games like one of his favorites being Texas Hold’em Poker. Don also cherished his four-legged companion, Princess. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending quality time with his family, especially his grandkids who he affectionately called them ‘his angels’. 

Beloved father of Michael Schaffenberg, Margaret (Tom Johnson) Schaffenberg, and Frank (Beth Hyter) Torrance. Loving grandfather of Mila Annette and Rebecca May. In addition to his parents, Don is preceded in death by his wife: Rebecca Torrance.
