Dolores Ann Fountain, age 86 of Monroe, passed away the evening of September 27, 2022 at IHM Senior Living Center surrounded by her loving family.

Born August 11, 1936, in Maumee, OH, she was the daughter of the late Floris and Elizabeth (Kurtz) Balk. Dolores attended St. Michael Elementary School. She was baptized, confirmed, and became a member at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. Dolores attended Monroe High School and graduated with the class of 1954. She then met and married Arletus Fountain in October of 1956 at St. Mary Catholic Church. They raised a family of six children and spent over 26 years together before his passing on September 25, 1997.

Dolores worked as a supervisor for the 1st District Court of Monroe County. In her spare time, Dolores enjoyed gardening and canning. She would also crochet baby quilts to donate to the hospital along with making rosaries to donate overseas. Most importantly, Dolores loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

To cherish her memory, Dolores leaves her children: Cherie (Scott) Baker, Arletus Fountain, II, Deborah Malone, Douglas (deAndra) Fountain, Shawn Fountain, and Chris (Lutisha) Fountain; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and siblings: Arthur Balk, Joseph Balk, and Katherine Vajdik.

In addition to her parents, Dolores was preceded in death by a great grandson, Dylan Eikenberry; two siblings, Barbara Knisely and Phyllis Balk; and a son-in-law, Dale Malone.

Family and friends may visit on Monday, October 3, 2022 at Rupp Funeral Home from 3:00 to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. Dolores will lie instate at 10:00 am with a mass beginning at 11:00 am. Burial will follow immediately at St. Joseph Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in memory of Dolores be made to Monroe Right to Life.
