Delores J. Simmons
March 7, 1935 – July 9, 2025
Delores J. Simmons, age 90 of Monroe, peacefully went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at the Fountainview of Monroe Nursing home.
Born March 7, 1935, in Monroe, MI. Delores was the daughter of the late Frank and Marie (Maass) Kosino. She was a 1952 graduate of Monroe High School.
Delores met and married the love of her life, Lawrence L. Simmons on September 6, 1952, at Zion Lutheran Church of Monroe. They raised a family of two children. They spent over 72 wonderful years together.
Delores worked as an operator for Michigan Bell right out of high school. Delores was employed for 13 years in the Activities and Social Service Department at the Frenchtown Convalescent Center, retiring in 1987. She was a very active 4H leader.
To cherish her memory, she leaves behind her beloved husband, Larry Simmons; her daughter, Leisa (Marty) Nadeau; two grandchildren, Marleise (Parker) Gutschow and Frank (Gabby) Nadeau; and two great-grandchildren, Amiya and Kai Gutschow.
In addition to her parents, Delores was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Simmons, and her brother, Byron Kosino.
Memorial donations in honor of Delores are suggested to Zion Lutheran Church and School of Monroe.
In accordance with family wishes, a private service was arranged Sunday, July 13, 2025 with Pastor Greg Sitzman from Zion Lutheran Church presiding.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Rupp Funeral Home.
