David "Dave" J. Goins

David J. "Dave" Goins, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026, at the age of 79, at Fountain View of Monroe in Monroe, Michigan. Born on February 14, 1947, in Monroe, Dave lived a full life enriched by family, friends, and his love for the great outdoors.

Dave spent many years working as a dedicated laborer for Monroe Hydraulic and Tool, where he was known for his hard work and camaraderie. He retired in 2007, leaving behind a legacy of commitment and friendship among his colleagues.

In his leisure time, Dave found joy in the simple pleasures of life. An avid outdoorsman, he cherished spending time hunting deer, rabbits, and ducks. He was also a devoted fan of the Detroit Tigers. Those who knew Dave will fondly remember his wonderful sense of humor and his gift of gab, which could light up any room.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Martha (Lawson) Goins; his brothers, Fredrick Goins and Henry M. Goins; and his sister, Patricia A. Goins.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kay (Myers) Goins of Monroe, and his former spouse and longtime close friend, Katrinka "Trinka" Goins of Monroe. He leaves behind his cherished daughter, Jodi Goins of Monroe, and his stepson, Mark (Melissa) Myers. Dave's memory will also be treasured by his brothers, Lawton "Ray" (Carol) Goins and Todd (Liz) Goins of Monroe; his grandchildren, Aquila, Markus, Mara, and Keeleigh; and his great-grandchild, Kariyah. He will be dearly missed by his nephews and nieces, Chad, Chris and Carrie Goins, Lauren (Corey) Gorney and Megan (Noah) Kettinger, as well as his great-nephew, Grayson, and great-niece, Emmy.

Family and friends may visit on Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Rupp Funeral Home, located at 2345 S. Custer Road, Monroe, MI 48162, where services celebrating Dave's life will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dave's memory are suggested to the family to assist with purchasing Dave’s grave marker. Dave will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and the love he shared with those around him.
