David James Prenkert
August 21, 1959 – May 3, 2024

David James Prenkert, age 64, of Monroe, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 3, 2024.
 

Born August 21,1959, in Monroe, David was one of four sons born to the late Thomas and Carol (Templer) Prenkert. David graduated from Monroe High School and went on to further his education, achieving his associate degree, from Ferris State University.

In 1994, David married the love of his life, Bonnie McBride, and together they built their lives. He spent more than 30 years working for the Monroe Public School District. David was a Christian and his love for Jesus Christ shined through him. He spent his life trying show Christ to others. He and Bonnie found their church home at Calvary Baptist Church in Dundee.
 

David was a former member of the Monroe Rod and Gun Club and in his spare time he enjoyed fishing, traveling, hunting and simply being outdoors. David’s most precious time, however, was the time he spent with his children and grandchildren. He was a big hearted and kind man who will be truly missed by those who had the pleasure to know him.
 

Beloved husband of Bonnie, stepfather of Joel (Dawn) Roth and Michelle (Brian) Smith. Brother of Thomas (Diane) Prenkert, Jerry (Cheryl) Prenkert and Mark (Carla) Prenkert and grandfather of five precious grandchildren, Brayden, Sheldon, Luke, Adam and Lily.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial gathering on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Dundee from 10 am to 12 pm. There will be a Celebration of Life service on Saturday at 12 noon. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Rupp Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Calvary Baptist Church.
