David Greeno Obituary

David L. Greeno

May 24, 1947- March 27, 2021

David Lee Greeno, age 73 of Erie, passed away in his home unexpectedly the afternoon of Saturday, March 27, 2021.

David was born May 24, 1947 in Monroe, MI to the late Robert and Anne (Sesan) Greeno. He was willing to fight for his country, enlisting in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. David ended up being honorably discharged for medical reasons before combat, but the courage and initiative he showed is admirable. He would go on to attend MCCC and Eastern Michigan University to achieve a degree in Chemistry. This gave him the ability to have a life long career in water treatment at the Ford Motor Company, retiring after a 43 year tenure. David would marry the love of his life, Cindy Elliott, on March 5, 1966. The two of them would go on to build a home and life together, raising three children. In 2012, after 46 loving years, Cindy passed away.

David was a member of the Keggers Softball Club and Brotherhood. Through the Brotherhood, he made life long memories and friends that became family. He also coached basketball and track at Erie Mason High School and Jr. High. Coaching the kids, seeing their skills and confidence grow, and helping build character was David's passion. Above all else, David loved spending time with his family and friends.

Not only was David a coach, the patriarch of the Greeno family, and all around family man, he also earned the title of "Grillmaster". David could smoke and grill like nobody's business. Brisket, ribs, pork butt; whatever the cut of meat, he could make it melt in your mouth.

To cherish his memory, David leaves his son, Brian Greeno; two daughters, Mary Ann Stark and Jennifer (Doug) Toda; brother, Robert (Sophie) Greeno; and ten grandchildren: Kassandra Loveland & Corby Swartz, Paige Stark and Tyler Maxwell, Jessica Toda and Katie Thorne, Morgan Stark & Joshua Parran Andrew Toda and Victoria Dierks.

Along with his parents and wife, David is predeceased by his brother, Richard Greeno.

Family and friends may visit from 1-8pm on Wednesday March 31, 2021 at Rupp Funeral Home, where a funeral service celebrating David's life will be held on Thursday April 1, 2021 at 11am. Kevin Skaggs will officiate, burial will immediately follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
