Daniel Michael Moss
February 29, 1952 – June 22, 2025
Daniel “Mike” Moss, age 73, went home to be with Lord on Sunday, June 22, 2025.
Born at Annapolis hospital in Wayne, Michigan, a leap year baby born on February 29, 1952. Son of the late Roy and Ruby (Napier) Moss. Growing up in Canton on Michigan Ave with his Mother and six siblings he spent his time working the family market “Ruby’s Produce”. When he wasn’t helping his Mom, he would spend his time doing what he loved the most, being outdoors, playing in the woods and fishing. He graduated from John Glenn High School in 1970 and went on to serve honorably in the United States Navy as a flight officer on deck of the U.S.S. John F. Kennedy aircraft carrier. During his military service he attended the wedding of a fellow officer and met the love of his life, Janice (Skindzier) and they were together for 51 years. They settled down together in Westland and he made his living working as an Inspector for General Motors at the Willow Run plant in Ypsi for over 30 years. Mike and Jan loved spending their Sundays at Glad Tidings Church where he joyfully rocked the drums for Jesus.
In 2009, Mike and Jan bought a small farm in Monroe, Michigan where they helped to raise their kids and grandkids while enjoying their animals and spending time together fishing in their pond. An avid lifelong hunter, he was nicknamed “Michigan Mike” and “Dead Deer Running” always prepping for the hunting season the day after it finished. Evey year looking forward to going to his cabin in the UP with his son and grandsons, and best friend Doug. A man of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, he made friends everywhere he went and only wanted to enjoy every day he had, always there to help anyone in need. He will be truly missed by all that knew and loved him.
To cherish his memory, he leaves behind his children: Amy Moss and Kristina (Paul) Lacy; 10 grandchildren: Bethany, Drew, Brenna, Autumn, Lindsey, Sean, Kailynn, Emily, Jonathan, and Michael; 9 great grandchildren: Christopher, Jaxson, Brantley, Ameila, Lilah, Dalton Jr., Oakland, twins Cynthia & Cole; sisters: Susan “Riff” Tyree Olsen Sharp Riffenberg and Geraldine Tyree Hedger Smith. In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his son, Jacob Michael Moss who he was so very proud of.
