Cynthia Cole-Proffitt

Cynthia Cole-Proffitt, age 75 of Monroe, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at her home.
Born August 31, 1948 in Monroe, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Iva (Knapp) Cole. Cynthia graduated from Monroe High School. After school, she raised two sons in Monroe.
Cynthia worked at the Howard Ternes Packaging Company for many years as a Union Steward before retiring. She attended First Church of God and volunteered her time at Extra Blessings. Cynthia could also be found helping at Mable Kehres Senior Center.
In her free time, you could find her baking and cooking for loved ones, going to garage sales, sewing, and doing puzzles. Cynthia will be remembered for her giving nature and energy, and being selfless by doing for others who were in need. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Beloved mother of Brian (Melissa) Proffitt and Ron (Amy) Proffitt. Loving grandmother of Aidan, Andrew, & Ava Proffitt, Justin Proffitt, Miranda (Matthew) Emmenecker, Kennedy Proffitt, and Madison, Audrey & Peyton Dunlap. Great grandmother of Owen and Dean. Dear sister of Ed (Carolyn) Cole, Janabe Cole, Sue (Ken) Loveland, and Nancy Edwards. Cynthia is also survived by her former spouse, David Zak.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents: Edward and Iva Cole.
In accordance with the family’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends and family are invited to a memorial gathering on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Rupp Funeral Home from 12 noon to 2 pm. A Celebration of Life service will start on Saturday at 2 pm. Officiating is Rev. Larry Detruf.
