April 24, 1931- February 21, 2024


Clarence Buford Hill, age 92 of Monroe, entered eternal rest with his loving Lord and Savoir on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at the ProMedica Regional Hospital of Monroe.

Clarence was born in Monroe, Michigan on April 24, 1931. He was one of nine children born from the union of the late Ross and Lulu (Sanders) Hill. Clarance was a veteran of the United States Army where he served in the Korea War.

He was a member of the Monroe Masonic Lodge #27. He was a member of the Monroe Missionary Baptist Church. Clarence was employed by Moynaham Bronze Company for many years where he worked in Supervision and management. He spent the rest of his working career employed in the tool and die department of Ford Motor Company where he took an early retirement.

Clarence married Patricia L. Clemens. They had one son from their union, Steven R. Hill. Later on, he married Betty S. Bowling, who preceded him in death along with four brothers and three sisters.

After his retirement, Clarence moved to Tennessee and traveled extensively. He visited almost all of the states as well as Canada and Mexico Many of his favorite things to do included vacationing in Florida, riding his Harley Motorcycle, golfing, bowling, and fishing.

To cherish his memory, he leaves his son: Steven (Judy) Hill of Monroe; granddaughters: Tracy (Jason) Younglove and Amber (Mike) Swinkey of Monroe; great grandchildren: Makenna & Talen Swinkey, Bryson Lane, and Alexandria, Cole, & Bryce Younglove; sister: Shirley of North Carolina; stepdaughters: Laura Johnson of Trenton and Bonnie (Ed) Clark; and stepsons: John Johnson of Texas and Bradley Bowling.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Monday, February 26, 2024, at Rupp Funeral Home from 10 am to 1 pm. A funeral service will conclude the viewing starting at 1 pm. Pastor Spencer Snow is officiating. Burial will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park where an honor guard service under the auspice of the VFW Post 1138 will take place.
