Christopher Muniz Obituary

Christopher Dan Muniz

November 17, 1967 – May 22, 2024

Christopher Dan Muniz, 56, of Monroe, MI. Passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, May 22nd after a 5-year battle with esophageal cancer. Christopher was surrounded by friends and family during the time of his passing.

Born November 17th, 1967, in Detroit, MI. Christopher is the son of the late Donna and Albert Muniz. Chris was one of 5 children. Chris attended Monroe High School.

Chris was a skilled tradesman, working as a concrete finisher most of his life before he made his dream come true of starting his own company, Muniz Services LLC. with his family members. Christopher worked with Coil Line Services as a lead Millwright.

Chris had two children of his own, Tyler Muniz and Jessica Muniz, before meeting the love of his life, Morgan Muniz. Chris then took on the role of a father to 3 more children, Megan Harrison-Gray, Mandy Stone, and Matthew Stone.  Morgan and Chris have been blessed with many grandchildren as well. Morgan and Chris were together for 19 years and married for 2 years. Together they raised their children, enjoyed camping, and road tripped through the country together.

While Chris stayed busy with work to support his family, it could be said that his true passion was cooking. Chris will always be known best for his "Tia Jesse's tamales" aka being "the tamale guy". Chris loved watching movies with his family, having frequent family dinners, spending time with his beloved cats, and helping others whenever he could. Above all, he worked to make sure those around him were happy and cared for.

Chris is survived by many family and friends including wife, Morgan Muniz; children: Jessica Muniz, Tyler Muniz, Corey Muniz (Cassie Muniz), Megan Harrison-Gray (Christopher Harrison), Mandy Stone (Brandon Raasch), Matthew Stone (Kassidy Reeder); grandchildren: Christopher Harris (Katie Berger), Ariana Cole, Aubrey Muniz, Laila Muniz, Mýzaih Ford, Ode Muniz, Parker Muniz, and Zander Harris. He is survived by siblings: Linda Jones, Albert (Alfie) Muniz, Gilbert Muniz, and Isabelle Wardrop.

The family would like to express thanks to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation that will be held at Rupp Funeral Home on Sunday, May 26th from 1 p.m. – 9 p.m. Services celebrating his life will begin at 6 p.m. In Lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Morgan Muniz directly to help in covering the cost of funeral services.
