February 4, 1932 – December 12, 2025


Charles Alexander Mata, age 93 of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 12, 2025, at home under hospice care.


Born February 4, 1932, in Monroe. Charles was the son of the late John and Emma (Dunney) Mata. After school, Charles proudly enlisted in the United States Army in 1950 during the Korean War. He served a total of three years before he was honorably discharged in 1953.


After being discharged, he met and married the love of his life, Margaret Letasse, on November 26, 1955 in Monroe. They raised a family of three children and spent over 40 years together before Marge sadly passed away in 1995.


Charles was a Screw Machinist at an automotive manufacturing company up until his retirement in 1996. After he retired, he took up making wood working projects. In his free time, Charles loved to be outdoors in nature, including hunting and fishing. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.


Beloved father of Mark (Anna) Mata and Vicky (James Deremiah) LaRue. Loving Grandfather to Michael, Shayna, Kristie, and Brandon. Great-Grandfather to Savanna, Aaliyah, Charlee, and Alexis.


In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by wife, Margaret Mata; and son, Gregory Mata, sisters Irene Franzen, Joann Geiman, and brothers Alex Mata, Joseph Mata, Fred Mata, and Frank Mata.


A graveside and honor guard service will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Roselawn Memorial Park starting at 11 am. Rupp Funeral Home is assisting in funeral arrangements.


Memorial donations in honor of Charles are suggested to Heartland Hospice or a Veteran Organization of the donors choice.
