Carolyn Sue Mayes
January 27, 1939 - January 20,2024
Carolyn Sue Mayes, 84, a resident of Frenchtown Township, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Medilodge in Monroe, MI.
Carolyn was the oldest of seven children born to the late Ernest and Axie Graves on January 27, 1939 in Middlesboro, KY. She married Robert R. Mayes, April 23, 1957.
Carolyn was a member of Frenchtown Missionary Baptist Church in Monroe, MI. She loved to sing for the Lord and sang in many churches throughout Monroe. She also assisted in the food pantry at the church.
Carolyn loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great granddaughters. In her spare time, she enjoyed many crafts including baking, quilting, painting, and crocheting.
To cherish her memory, she leaves behind her children: Fred (Lisa) Mayes of Willis, MI, Renea (Bill) Soloninka of Romulus, MI, and Bob (Lyn) Mayes of Greer, SC; grandchildren: Michael (Rebekah) Mayes, Zachary Mayes, Will (Alyssa) Soloninka, Eleanor, Bobby, and Joseph Mayes; great granddaughters: Chloe and Charlotte Mayes; siblings: Sandy Poupard, Ella (Ron) Harmon, Edward Allen (Cheryl) Graves, and Gregory Graves; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her sister Phyllis Graves and brother Mike Graves.
Everyone is invited to a visitation on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at Rupp Funeral Home from 2 to 8 pm. The funeral service will be on Monday, January 29, 2024, at Rupp Funeral Home starting at 11 am. Reverend Mike Smith will officiate. Burial will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
