Bob met and married the love of his life, Donna Marie Olmsted on October 16, 1970, at St. Valentine Church in Redford. They just celebrated their wedding anniversary and spent over 55 wonderful years together.

Robert “Bob” Paul Wickenheiser, age 79 of Monroe, passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025.

Born February 2, 1946, in Monroe. He is the son of the late Robert and Olga (Lasley) Wickenheiser. Bob graduated from Airport High School in 1964. He later continued his education at Wayne State University to achieve his Master of Social Work as well as his ACSW (Academy of Certified Social Workers).

Bob first worked for the State of Michigan in Monroe before he was transferred to Tawas, MI, where he oversaw establishing homes for children’s foster care programs. He then became the social worker at Dundee Public Schools as well as the Director of the Monroe County Catholic Social Services.  Lastly, he was a Supervisor at the Information Center, Downriver, where he retired in 2008.

In his younger years, he enjoyed going boating as well as fishing. Bob also liked to ride his bicycle and was in the League of Michigan Bicyclists Club. In his free time, he enjoyed watching his western shows. Bob was very particular in how his yard looked and kept it in excellent shape. You could also find him out in the garage doing woodworking projects.

Most importantly, he absolutely adored his rescue cats who he affectionately referred to as “his girls”. Lucy, Ethel Marie, and Jena were his world to spoil and cherish. Bob also loved spending quality time with his family, especially his numerous nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Beloved husband of Donna Wickenheiser. Dear brother of Karen Jaworski. Also survived by his Aunt Irene Pollar Kecskes and many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews, and great great nieces & nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a brother, Ed Wickenheiser, and a sister, Linda Perkowski.

In accordance with the family’s wishes, funeral services for Bob are private. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Rupp Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Bob are suggested to the Ferndale Cat Café.
