Billie Phillips Obituary

Billie D. Phillips

November 25, 1930 – January 14, 2026

Billie D. Phillips, age 95 of Temperance, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at home with family by her side.

Born November 25, 1930, in Goin, Tennessee. Billie was the daughter of the late Walter Dewey and Evolyn (Johnson) Brewer. Billie graduated from Monroe High School in 1949, where she was an avid basketball player.

Billie met and married the love of her life, Walter S. Phillips, on March 1, 1952, in Monroe. Together they raised a family of two sons. They spent over 40 wonderful years together before Walter sadly passed away in 1992. Billie found second love again through Bob Gorman and they first got married in Arizona at Benson Heights Baptist Church. They later had a reception on May 9, 1998 at Mt. Carmel Church.

Billie worked at the Michigan Secretary of State Office for 17 years before she retired in 1992. She then became an office manager accountant for Phillips Pro Systems for 30 years. Billie was a member of the Monroe Missionary Baptist Church, where she enjoyed singing choir songs. She spent 90 years singing in church and loved southern gospel music. In her free time, she liked to travel to different places. Billie will be deeply missed and cherished in the hearts of her loved ones.

Beloved mother of Paul Phillips and Dennis (Wendy Sue) Phillips. Loving grandmother of Heather Phillips, Jason Phillips, Adam Phillips, Nichole Ferris, and Kaylee Phillips. Great grandmother of 13 and great great grandmother of one. Dear sister of Shirley (Patrick) Preston.

In addition to her parents, Billie was preceded in death by first husband, Walter Phillips; second husband, Bob Gorman; and sister, Bobbie Tinnel.
