Betty Sue Nunn
October 6, 1934-July 29, 2023
Betty Sue Nunn, age 88 of Monroe, passed away the morning of Saturday July 29, 2023 at ProMedica Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Sue was born October 6, 1934 in Claiborne County, TN to the late Otis and Woody (Smith) Adams. She went on to meet and marry the love of her life, Ray Nunn, on December 27, 1954. Together the two of them built a loving home, and raised their only child, Donna.
Sue was a hairdresser for over 30 years and belonged to the Hairdresser Association for much of her career where she competed and placed in many cosmetology competitions. She and her husband started a pool business together where she became passionate about the science behind balancing pool water and was known for getting her customers pools to sparkle. She was by her husbands side for all his business endeavors including his motorcycle dealership, which allowed them to travel the world. Some of her favorite trips included Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Beijing. But her favorite place of all was their second home in Pompano Beach Florida just steps from the ocean where she enjoyed walking the beach every morning to collect sea glass to add to her extensive collection. In her spare time, Sue loved to entertain and host. She could often be found cooking and baking; one of her most famous and loved dishes was her banana pudding. She had the biggest heart for hospitality and often opened her home to people who needed a place to stay and had a knack for turning those who needed a helping hand into family. Above all else, Sue loved spending time with family and friends.
To cherish her memory, Sue leaves her husband of nearly 69 loving years, Ray; her daughter, Donna (Dan) Schultz; brother, Jack (Julie) Money; 2 grandchildren, Kaylee Schultz and Gemma (Devon) McVettie; great granddaughter, Leida McVettie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, and cherished Step Father, Edd Money, Sue is preceded in death by 2 brothers, Joe Money and Edward Money Jr.; and 3 sisters: Jay (Charles) McFall, Vi Franks, and Doris Money.
Family and friends are welcome to visit at Rupp Funeral Home on Wednesday August 2nd, 2023 from 1pm-6pm, where a celebration of Sue’s life will be held at 6pm. Pastor Roy Southerland will officiate. A graveside service will be held at 11am on Friday August 4, 2023 at The Meador Cemetery in Harrogate, TN.
