Bernice J. Freimark, age 97 of Monroe, passed away peacefully with her husband by her side on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at her home under hospice care.

Born July 11, 1926 in Ida, MI. She was the daughter of the late Otto and Julia (Lutz) Schlump. Bernice graduated from Monroe High School in 1944.

Bernice met and married the love of her life: Earl Freimark on September 11, 1954 at Trinity Lutheran Church of Monroe. They spent over 70 wonderful years together.

Bernice worked at the Monroe County Intermediate School District. She was the secretary for 17 years before retiring in 1984. Bernice was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Monroe. She was also part of the Monroe and Frenchtown Township senior citizens center. Bernice especially loved spending her quality time with her friends and family including her many nieces and nephews.

Beloved wife of Earl Freimark. Loving aunt of Sandra Renee (Brian) Urguhart and Stephen J. Schlump.

In addition to her parents, Bernice was preceded in death by a brother: John O. Schlump.

The Freimark family wants to give a special thank you to Jill’s Angels for all the loving care and comfort they provided for Bernice.

Everyone is invited to a visitation on Monday, June 17, 2024, at Rupp Funeral Home from 2 to 7 pm. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Rupp Funeral Home starting at 11 am. Officiating is Pastor Dennis Mann. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Bernice are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church or the donor’s choice.
