Bernadette Costello died Aug. 17 at ProMedica Regional Hospital in Monroe at the age of 88.

Bernadette was born Aug. 25 1934, in Detroit, to Omer and Marie Denomme. She graduated from Dominican High School in Detroit and eventually moved to Oxford, where she raised her family. Bernadette loved gardening, reading, cheering on her favorite sports teams and singing in her church’s choir. Among her fondest memories were lakeside family vacations in Bayfield, Ontario.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Eileen Denomme IHM, brothers Laurence “Pat” and Robert “Bob”, niece Janine Denomme, nephews Paul Isola and Tommy Denomme, and former husband Harvey B. Wilds. She is survived by her children Sharon (Collis) Naylor of Mooresville, IN, Mary (Dee) Wilds of Griffith, IN, Jeanne (Charles) Trampe of Mundelein, IL, Bernadette (Dale) Inskeep of Radnor, Ohio, Harvey (Julie) of San Diego and Kathleen (Jeffrey) Stillman of Waterford; grandchildren Christopher and Jonathan (Jenny) Wilson, Rachael (Christopher) Craig, Sarah Inskeep, Mary (Tyler) Cuvelier, Gabrielle and Meredith Wilds, Lucas “Luke” and John “Jack” Stillman; three great-grandchildren, sister Yvonne Isola of Lexington, SC; former husband Sylvester “Twig” Costello, nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Per her wishes, Bernadette was cremated. Her ashes will be laid to rest in Lake Michigan. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Aug. 31 at the IHM Motherhouse in Monroe. Visitation will be at 9 a.m.
