Benjamin Stein Obituary

Benjamin D. Stein

May 15, 1936 – November 26, 2024

Benjamin Donald Stein, age 88, of Monroe, passed away peacefully at the Ebeid Hospice Center on the morning of November 26, 2024.

Born on May 15, 1936, to Donald T. and Wilhelmina (Rutkowske) Stein in South Rockwood, Ben was one of 9 children his parents had together. After attending Airport High School, Ben found a job at McLouth Steel, where he would work for over 40 years as a steel worker.

On September 10, 1955, he married the love of his life – Beulah LeForce. Together, they raised two daughters: Sheral and Tamra. Ben and Beulah raised their family in Monroe and enjoyed their life together for 69 years.

After his time at McLouth, he was still determined to work, so he found another job at Kreps Building Company.

In Ben’s free time, he loved woodworking and chopping firewood. He was great with his hands, as he could fix nearly anything you needed him to fix. Ben never met a stranger, either. He loved everyone and welcomed them with open arms. His family described him as a social butterfly. Holidays were his favorite, because he enjoyed family time and getting everyone together.

He absolutely adored his grandchildren and his great grandchildren, too. He loved to play with them, laugh with them, and of course, tease and joke with them.

Ben will be truly missed by everyone that knew him.

Beloved husband of Beulah Stein. Loving father of Sheral (James) Gretzler and Tamra (David) Westendorf. Dearest grandfather of Kelli (David) Carner, Corey (Kiersten) Westendorf, Eric (Brie) Westendorf, Jordan (Amalie) Jenkins, and Taylor Jenkins. Great-grandfather of Jackson, Lexie, Sawyer, Rhea, Isla, Josie and Jack. Dear brother of Marlene Hargis, Betty Lazette, and Carol (Harvey) Kecskes.

Benjamin was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Charles, Vincent, Edward, Harold, and Thomas Stein.

Friends and Family are invited to a visitation on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Rupp Funeral Home, beginning at 11 AM. A service will begin at 12:30, followed by a burial at Michigan Memorial Park, located in Flat Rock, MI.
