Benedetta Pezzino

Benedetta Pezzino, age 83, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, July 30, 2022 with her family by her side.
Born January 13, 1939 in Borgetto, Sicily, she was the oldest daughter of the late Antonino and Antonina (Vitale) Mignano. Betty immigrated to the United States in 1956. On July 6, 1961, she married her beloved husband Frank Sr. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Borgetto, where she was baptized and confirmed. Betty was a lifelong member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church.
Betty worked at St. Mary’s Academy and the Monroe County Intermediate School District. She also owned and operated Monroe Fruit Market for many years.
Betty enjoyed gardening and traveling to her summer home in Sicily, but her most treasured times were those cooking and spending time with her family.
To cherish her memory, she leaves three sons: Twins Arnold F. (Carolyn) Pezzino of Millbury, OH, Anthony J. Pezzino of Monroe, MI, and Frank (Wendy) Pezzino of Temperance, MI. Twelve cherished grandchildren: Jerry, Simone, Frank, Anthony, Giovanni, Dominque, Francesco, Marissa, Isabella, Dominic, Bianca, and Francesca. seven great grandchildren: Jordan, Isaac, Eliana, Isla, River, Enzo, and Juniper. Betty is also survived by seven siblings: brothers, Russ (Josephine) Mignano, Sam (Antonina) Mignano and Joe (Linda) Mignano, all of Monroe and four sisters: Ann (Lino) Perna, Mary (Frank) Liparoto, Josephine (Joe) Perna and Grace (Salvatore) Vicari also of Monroe.
In addition to her husband Frank, Betty was preceded in death by a son, Salvatore, her parents, and a brother Nino.
Family and friends may gather at Rupp Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 3 from 2 until 7 pm, and Thursday, August 4, from 2 until 7 pm with a scripture service at 6 pm. Betty will lie in state on Friday, August 5 at St. Michael the Archangel Church at 10 am followed by a mass of the resurrection celebrating her life at 11 am. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe.
