Barbara L. Johnson, age 61 of Monroe, passed away Monday, January 30, 2023.

Born January 5, 1962 in Monroe, Barbara was the daughter of the late James and Barbara (Smith) Blevins. Barbara attended Jefferson High School and was a proud 1981 Graduate. Eight years after graduating, Barbara married, John Johnson, on September 30, 1989 at Bethany Baptist Church. Barbara worked as a nursing assistant at the IHM Senior Living Community and several other nursing homes in Monroe.

Barbara will be remembered as a kind, loving, and caring person who was always helping others. She loved everyone she met in her life. She especially held a very special place in her heart for young Gavin, her best friend, Rhonda’s, son. Barbara enjoyed gardening her flowers and raising Pomeranians. At any moment, Barbara was ready to travel with John. They would both get in the car and drive, once they got there, they would know where they were going.

To cherish her memory, Barbara leaves behind her husband, John; brother, Dale (Penny) Blevins; best friend, Rhonda, and her son, Gavin; and several aunts and uncles.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Mike and Timothy Blevins.

Friends and family may gather Friday, February 3, 2023 at Rupp Funeral Home from 10 AM until time of a funeral service at 12 PM with Rev. Larry Detruf officiating. Barbara’s body will be laid to rest following the service at Roselawn Memorial Park.
