Alice R. Schmidt

February 2, 1944 – July 16, 2025

Alice Rosalie Schmidt, age 81 of Monroe, formerly of Saginaw, MI and Leesburg, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at the ProMedica Toledo Hospital.

Alice was born on February 2, 1944, in Saginaw, MI. She was the daughter of the late Henry (Peter) and Rosalie (Ballien) Card. Alice graduated from the Michigan Lutheran Seminary in 1962.

Alice met and married the love of her life: Gerald “Jerry” Schmidt on July 10, 1965, in Hemlock, MI at St. John Church. They were blessed with one daughter. They just celebrated 60 wonderful years together.

Out of high school, Alice first worked as a Dental Assistant. She then went to work at Michigan Bell Telephone Company. In 1982, she became a bookkeeper at the Michigan Sugar Company until she retired in 1999, after 17 years of service.

Alice was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Monroe. In her free time, she was an avid crafter. You could find her crocheting, knitting, or sewing. Alice was also a handy lady and could fix many things. Most importantly, she treasured her family and enjoyed doing anything she could for them. Alice will be deeply missed and cherished in the hearts of her loved ones.

Beloved wife of Jerry Schmidt. Loving mother of Michele (Chris) Leidel. Dearest grandmother of Jacob (Lauren) Leidel and Thomas (Elliah) Leidel. Great grandmother of Juniper and Alexander Leidel.

In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by grandson: Adam Leidel; and brothers: Clarence and Frank Card.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial gathering will be on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Rupp Funeral Home from 12 noon to 2 pm. A memorial service will start at 2 pm, with Pastor Dennis Mann officiating. She will later be laid to rest at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Saginaw, MI.
