Albert R. Wright, age 93 of Monroe, passed away at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital the afternoon of Sunday March 14, 2021.

Albert was born December 23, 1927 in Monroe, MI to the late Bert and Bertha (Mills) Wright. He made a career working on the shipping dock for Jefferson Smurfit, retiring after a 33 year tenure with the company. He was a former member of East Raisinville Frenchtown United Methodist Church and a life long resident of Monroe.

In addition to working at Jefferson Smurfit, Albert was also a farmer his whole life. Due to his career, he wasn't always able to tend to the farm. To alleviate this, his wife, Florence, would pitch in and help with chores such as milking the cows. It was also common to see them volunteering at the Old McDonald Farm during the Monroe County Fair. Albert enjoyed camping, traveling all across the US and Canada with Florence and their camper. Above all else, Albert loved spending time with his family and friends.

To cherish his memory, Albert leaves his wife of 73 loving years, Florence; two sons: Ronald (Yvonne) Wright of Monroe, MI and Dennis (Margie) Wright of Monroe, MI; two daughters: Karen Davis of Newport, MI and Darlene (Bill) Presley of Morley, MI; ten grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.

Along with his parents, Albert is preceded in death by three sisters: Dorothy Schmidt, Mary Wright, and Rose Parron; one brother, Floyd Wright; and one grandchild, Paula Presley.

Family and friends are welcomed to visit from 2-7pm at Rupp Funeral Home on Thursday March 18, 2021. A funeral service celebrating Albert's life will be held at the funeral home on Friday March 19, 2021 at 11am. Rev. Andrea Johnson and Rev. Katie Waggoner will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at Rath Cemetery, Monroe.
