Alan J. Bourbina, age 67 of Monroe, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at his home.

A lifelong resident of Monroe, Alan was born July 28, 1958, to Jeanette (Jevince) and the late Thomas Bourbina. Alan graduated from Monroe High School in 1976. He married the love of his life, Darla Morgan on April 30, 1993, at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Monroe. Together they spent over 25 years together before Darla sadly passed in 2016.

Alan dedicated over 23 years of service to the Mazda Motor Corporation/Ford Motor Company as a Materials Handler, retiring in 2016.

Alan was a passionate Detroit sports fan, never missing a chance to "critique" the Lions, Tigers, or Pistons on their performance or their organizations. He followed national politics closely and could spend hours discussing current political events. While he was known for being loud and outspoken, those close to him knew the truth: beneath the brash exterior was a man with a massive heart and immense love for his family. Alan will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Alan stayed very connected to his faith which was instilled in him from an early age through his mother, in addition to his early education experiences at St. Joseph’s school, and serving as an altar boy at Sunday masses for several years. He prayed daily and recited the rosary often.

To cherish his memory, Alan is survived by his mother, Jeanette Bourbina; son, Mike (Ellie) Depew; stepson, Josh Doman; two grandsons, Noah and Nathan; siblings, Douglas (Barb) Bourbina, Diana (David) Duvall, John (Kathy) Bourbina, Mark (Denise) Bourbina, Daniel Bourbina, and Terry (Marti) Bourbina, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Alan was preceded in death by wife, Darla Bourbina and father, Thomas Bourbina.

A viewing will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Monroe on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. Alan will lie in state at 10 a.m. with Mass of the Resurrection at 11 a.m. Rev. David Burgard will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroe.
