ReisigRussell W. Reisig, 75 of Monroe died at 5:07 am Tuesday at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital. He had been in poor health for one year.

In accordance with his wishes cremation will be held with no visitation or services. Rupp Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Born May 25, 1942 in Monroe he was the son of George B. and Nancy J. (Dossett) Reisig. He married Penny N. Balk on February 6, 1967 in Monroe.

Russell was a 1960 graduate of Monroe High School and served his country in the United States Air Force from February 2, 1961 to February 1, 1965. He was also a member of VFW Post 1138 Monroe.

He was in car sales at several Monroe Dealerships before moving to Ford Motor Company, Monroe and retired with thirty years of service.

Surviving are his wife Penny; sons John R. (Sandra) Reisig and Ryan W. Reisig both of Monroe; grandchildren Gerrit Reisig, Gavin Reisig and Giuliana Reisig, and a brother-in-law Gerald Dehn of Roseville.

He was preceded in death by a brother George Reisig; sisters Joann Dehn, Norma Gillenkirk and Mary Martin; sister-in-law Brenda Reisig, and brothers-in-law Vince Gillenkirk and Dean Martin.

    I am so sorry for your loss. I was just asking Ellen about Russ last Saturday. He was always special to me, he was my swim buddy and a good friend. Have been missing you two at the reunions and lunches. If you decide to have a memorial of any kind, please let me know when and where.     Russ and Holly were related through Holly’s mother and Russ’ father; I spent a lot of time with Russ on the Monroe High School swimming team. He was a good friend.

    We were surprised to hear of his passing. We are sad for the loss his family and friends will suffer through..
