Robert K. Lusch

LuschRobert K. Lusch, age 77 of Monroe, died at 10:58 p.m. Tuesday in the ICU at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital. He had been in poor health for several years and seriously ill since November.

Family and friends may visit from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Rupp Funeral Home where Monroe Council 1266 Knights of Columbus will conduct a Litany/Rosary service at 7 p.m. He will lie instate at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Michael Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 12 p.m. by former pastor, Rev. Stephen Rooney. Cremation will follow in accordance with family wishes.

Born December 3, 1940 in Toledo, Ohio, Bob was the son of the late Harry and Christina (Ludgate) Lusch. He married Sharon Margaret Reynolds on October 31, 1959 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Toledo.

Following his graduation from Monroe Catholic Central High School in 1958, Bob served in the U.S. Navy, returned home, and worked for Western Electric Company from 1961 to 1975. About that time, Bob opened the Little Fix-It Shop in downtown Monroe. In 1978, Bob founded Seaway Communications, an answering service company that he operated until 1997.

Bob was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Parish, Monroe Council 1266 Knights of Columbus, founding member of the Monroe Coin Club, charter member of Michigan State Numismatic Society, and former Chairman of the City of Monroe Zoning Board of Appeals.

Mr. Lusch is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sharon M. Lusch; six children, Douglas of Perrysburg, Ohio, Michael (Jacki) Lusch of Monroe, Tamiko (Brian) Lamour of Monroe, Maria Eby of Monroe, Melissa (David) Larner of Erie, and Timothy (Gina) Lusch of Lakewood, Ohio; a sister, Margaret (John) Edberg of Englewood, Florida; 25 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Bob was also preceded in death by two sisters, Marybelle (Sam) Mills and Barbara (Carl) Leach; son-in-law, Thomas Eby; and stillborn granddaughter, Emma Larner.

Memorial donations are suggested to Heartbeat of Monroe or SMCC High School.
