Bogoski1Peter G. Bogoski, age 79 of Monroe, died at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4th at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor. He had been in declining health for three years.

Born January 16, 1938 in Carleton, Pete was the son of the late Julius and Rose (Mandelka) Bogoski, Sr. He graduated from Airport High School in 1955 and served his country in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1962. On September 24, 1966, he wed Eileen K. Witte at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Maybee, Michigan where he was a member.

Pete was employed for 33 years by La-Z-Boy Furniture, retiring in 1994. He also was a self-employed grain farmer for many years on the family farms. An avid reader, Pete also enjoyed gardening, wood crafting, camping, playing cards, and watching the Detroit Tigers win.

Pete is survived by his wife Eileen; two daughters, Brenda Bogoski of Monroe and Dawn (Willis) Pluff of Maybee; two brothers, James (Patricia) Bogoski and Gerald (Carole) Bogoski, both of Carleton; three sisters, Agnes “Tootsie” Bame of Wyoming, Michigan, Ruth Woodruff of Maybee, and Patricia “Patsy” Bogoski of Carleton; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Pete is also preceded in death by a brother, Julius Bogoski, Jr. and a sister, Edith Bame.

Pete will be cremated in accordance with his wishes. His family will receive visitors from 2 p.m. until time of memorial service at 6 p.m. Sunday at Rupp Funeral Home. Minister Gail Cebelak of St. Paul Lutheran Church, and Pete’s brother-in-law, Rev. Gary Witte, will officiate.

    I am so very sorry for your loss. I have wonderful memories of Uncle Peter. Though Dianne and I won’t be able to attend the services in person, we will be there with you in spirit and in our hearts. We love you all very much.
