Mary E. Bardon

BardonMary E. “Mary B.” Bardon, 87, of Monroe, passed away at 11:42 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.


Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Rupp Funeral Home, where the rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. She will lie instate Wednesday at 12 noon at St. Mary Church with a Mass of the Resurrection at 1 p.m. Rev. Louis Lapeyre, associate pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroe.


Mary was born April 3, 1930 in Monroe. She was the daughter of Ralph and Anna (Grupp) Schnorberger. She married Joseph D. Bardon on June 29, 1951 at St. Mary Church, he preceded her in death on October 29, 1998.


While working at River Raisin Paper Company she met her husband, Joe. After her marriage she stayed home to take care of her family and volunteered as a lunch mother while her children were in school; she reentered the work force when her youngest son started high school. She then worked as a waitress at the Holiday Inn and the Monroe Moose Lodge 884, where everyone called her Mary B.


Mary attended St. Mary Grade School and was 1948 graduate of St. Mary Academy. For many years she was a volunteer for Hospice and at area nursing homes. She also enjoyed playing bunco and working in the yard.


She is survived by three sons, Michael (Pam) Bardon, Rick “Radio Rick” Bardon and Steven (Kami) Bardon; two brothers, Alfred (Joan) Schnorberger and John (Sandy) Schnorberger; four grandchildren, Ben, Matt, Amber and Mitch and two great grandchildren.


In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Joseph Schnorberger.


Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association or a hospice of the donor’s choice.

We would see her at 7:30 Mass and talk about family matters. You had a great caring mom who cared about everyone she came in conract with.
