Kathleen “Kathy” Taszarek

TaszarekKathleen “Kathy” Taszarek, age 80, of Toledo, formerly of Monroe, passed away peacefully at 3:05 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2017, at Foundation Park Alzheimer’s Care Center, Toledo. She had been in declining health for the past twelve years and seriously ill for the last six months.

 

Family and friends may visit from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at Rupp Funeral Home. She will lie in state at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Divine Grace Parish, Carleton, where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. by the church Pastor, Rev. Fr. Steve Mateja. Interment will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery.

 

Born May 17, 1937 in Tazewell, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late William Curtis and Beulah (Mink) Buis. Kathy attended Monroe High School. She married her loving husband of fifty years, Francis Walter Taszarek, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Monroe, on May 6, 1955. Sadly, he preceded her in death on October 20, 2005. Kathy was employed with Monroe Public Schools as a Lunch Aid working at the Monroe Middle School until her retirement in 2006. She was a member of Women of the Moose #714 of Monroe since 1982 and St. Patrick Catholic Church, Carleton, for more than twenty years. She enjoyed camping, dancing, reading books, flowers, and watching Law and Order on television. She cherished her time outdoors watching the birds and animals enjoying all things nature had to offer. Kathy was a great seamstress and made many clothing items for her family who she deeply loved spending time with.

 

To cherish her memory, Kathy leaves two daughters, Debra L. (Gregory) Sype and Theresa L. (John Calder) Taszarek both of Carleton; one sister, Mary Jane Berry of Yuma, Arizona; three grandchildren: Michael A. (Lori) Sype of Carleton, Karen M. (Jack) Taeff of Monroe and Sarah L. (Donnie) Burley of Carleton; six great-grandchildren: Logan, Madelyn, Cody, Tyler, Landon, and Alaina; and several nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to her parents and husband, Kathy was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

 

Memorial contributions in Kathy’s name may be made to Foundation Park Alzheimer’s Care Center of Toledo, Ohio Living Home Health and Hospice of Greater Toledo or the Alzheimer’s Association.

    Kathy will be greatly missed. She was a second mom to my two boys. We were neighbors for over 30 years. Rest in peace.
