Joseph Charles Terrasi

TerrasiJoseph Charles Terrasi, 93 of Monroe, died at 8:24 pm Wednesday at the Alice Loraine Care Center. He had been in poor health for two months.

Family and friends may call from 1 to 8 pm Sunday at the Rupp Funeral Home. He will lie instate 10 am Monday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with the Mass of the Resurrection at 11 am. Rev. James Smalrz, pastor will officiate. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroe.

Born March 12, 1922 in Monroe, he was the son of Salvatore and Orsola (DiCarlo) Terrasi. He married Elizabeth Alotta on September 2, 1953 in Italy.

Joseph was employed by Consolidated Paper Company for twenty years; after the closing of the plant he worked for twelve years at Monroe Public Schools, then he and his wife owned and operated Restaurant Italia for fifteen years.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church until it closed, and then transferred to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus 1266, Monroe.

Surviving are his wife Elizabeth; sons Salvatore L. G. (June) Terrasi of Shorewood, Wisconsin and Girolamo J. (Jana) Terrasi of Canton; grandchildren Jonathan Terrasi, Michael Terrasi, Spencer Terrasi and Ross Terrasi; and a brother John Terrasi of Monroe.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Ben Terrasi and Sam Terrasi.

    Our hearts and prayers go out to you Bettina and family. He was a kind and generous man who the extended Terrasi/Gelso family remembers fondly. The Italian dishes you so generously provided personally and in your restaurant had no comparison. Sincere sympathy in your loss.
