Ivadell M. Schmitz, age 89, of Monroe, passed away peacefully at Wellspring Lutheran Services on Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at 3:30 a.m.

 

Family and friends may visit from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, November 16, 2017, at Rupp Funeral Home where the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.. She will lie in state at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church, where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. by Rev. Fr. Bob Singelyn. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroe.

 

Born October 10, 1928 in Riga, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Curtis I. and Elva J. (Iott) Manore. She married Marcel G. Schmitz on May 6, 1950 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Temperance. Sadly, he preceded her in death on January 29, 1996. Ivadell worked for the Lutheran Home in the Laundry Department for 20 years, retiring in 1995. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church since in 1950. Ivadell enjoyed traveling with her daughters, playing bingo and camping. She deeply loved spending time with her family.

 

To cherish her memory, Ivadell leaves five children: Christine M. (Denny) Straub of Maybee, Jeannine A. Motyka of Carleton, Dennis M. (Debbie) Schmitz of Monroe, Theresa (Gerald) Trotman of Ottawa Lake, Michigan and Annette C. (Tom) Brandon of Newport; sixteen grandchildren and thirty-three great-grandchildren with one more on the way.

 

In addition to her parents and husband, Ivadell was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Bernard Manore and two sisters, Janice Schmitz and Lucille Rogge.

 

Memorial contributions in Ivadell’s memory may be made to Great Lakes Caring Hospice or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
