Louise A. Spas, age 79 of Monroe, died 9:27 p.m. Sunday at Mercy Memorial Nursing Center, Monroe. She had been seriously ill for two months. Friends may call from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday at Rupp Funeral Home, Monroe. She will lie instate 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church where services will begin at 10 a.m. Rev. Marc Gawronski, pastor of St. Mary’s Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery, LaSalle, Michigan. Born October 10, 1929 in Newton Falls, Ohio, she was the daughter of John and Anna (Pavlick) Marenchin. She married George R. Spas on January 27, 1951 in St. Mary’s Church. He preceded her in death on August 9, 2005. Louise had been employed as a secretary at Leake Stamping Co. in Monroe and as a food preparer for ARA Food Services at Monroe High School before retiring in 1991. She was a member of St. Michael Church, a 1947 graduate of Monroe High School, a volunteer at Mercy Memorial Hospital and past president of its hospital guild. Surviving are her two children, Thomas G. (Alice) Spas of Newport and Cindy (John) Sieb of Monroe; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband George, Louise is preceded in death by her parents and five sisters.
