He was a 1964 graduate of
He was the owner of two businesses Palmyra Recycling and Salvage and Tyler Trucking.
He loved to go to auction and antiquing where he found new items to add to his collection of treasures. When he wasn’t doing one of those two things he could be found with his best friend Herb or his grandson Tyler.
Robert was best known as “Nibs” to all of his sisters.
He is survived by a son, David L. Lorton of Monroe, a grandson, Tyler L. Lorton of Monroe; granddaughter Emily E. Lorton of Monroe; a brother, Martin L. (Linda) Selvidge of Monroe; three sisters, Linda C. Selvidge of Monroe, Diane L. Selvidge of Flat Rock and LouAnn M. Selvidge of Monroe; nieces and nephews, Wendy (Rodney) Carney-Black, Jennifer Cole, Melissa Kosinski, Marty D. (Julie) Selvidge, Laura (Del) Pressotto, Carrie Jo (Larry) DeLucia, and will also be sadly missed by many great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
