Rhea E. Siffer, 69 of Monroe died at 8:10 p.m. Friday at Foundation Park Care Center, Toledo where he had been since April 2000. He had battled Alzheimer’s for ten years. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday and 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Rupp Funeral Home, Monroe where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Lawrence Detruf, pastor of First Church of God will officiate. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle. Born February 5, 1940 in Monroe, he was the son of Maurice and Nellie (Keeran) Siffer. He married Naomi L. Mayes September 7, 1968 in Monroe. She preceded him in death on March 24, 2005. Rhea was a manufacturing engineer for the Monroe Stamping Plant of the Ford Motor Company for 37 years, retiring in March 1995. A 1958 graduate of Monroe High School, he had attended Monroe County Community College. An avid bow hunter, Rhea always enjoyed an argumentative discussion. His enjoyment of cars, motorcycles and NASCAR left him with a happy demeanor. Surviving are two sons, Eric (Jodi) Siffer of Monroe and Alan (Lara) Siffer of Raleigh, N.C; three daughters, Kim, Kellie and Jamie and their families; two brothers, Charles Siffer of Dundee and Marvin Siffer of Tennessee and eleven grandchildren.
