Earl R. “Pop” Moyers, 86, of Monroe died at 6:24 p.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent’s Mercy Medical Center, Toledo. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Rupp Funeral Home where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. Rev. B.J. McDaniel, pastor, of the Frenchtown Missionary Baptist Church will officiate. Entombment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle. Born October 11, 1923 in Speedwell, Tennessee, he was the son of William A. and Lucinda Moyers. He married Edith Hill on December 24, 1941 in Toledo, Ohio and Edith was the love of his life for the past sixty-eight years. He was employed by Consolidated Paper Company, northside for thirty years as a millwright and then Dana Corp. Ecorse and North Star Steel, retiring in 1988. He enjoyed being a member of the Frenchtown Missionary Baptist Church. He was an avid gardener and hunter but most of all he loved his family. Surviving are his wife Edith, son John Earl (Charlene) Moyers of LaSalle; daughters Barbara A. Dushane of Monroe and Linda S. Poore of LaSalle; grandchildren, Leann (Mark) Britton, Larry Scott (Tamara) Poore, Steve (Terri) Dushane and Lisa (Tom) Haworth; eight great grandchildren and three step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers Bruce, Woodrow and Bob Moyers and a sister Nadine Ray. Memorials may be made to Frenchtown Missionary Baptist Church.
