Frances Florence (Grunow) Jackson, 95, of Monroe, Michigan died on August 27, 2015 at Wellspring Lutheran Services.


Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Rupp Funeral Home, Monroe, Michigan. She will lie in state at 10 a.m. Monday, August 31, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church, with funeral services at 11 a.m. Rev. Jeffrey Heimsoth, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.


Frances was born in Monroe, Michigan to the late Emil and Cecelia (Navarre) Grunow on October 18, 1919. She married Guy Jackson on August 14, 1937. They were honored with their 75th wedding anniversary in August 2012 by close family members.


Frances was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and was active in their Ladies Aid. She was a wife and homemaker, and also was employed by Micka’s Market in Monroe.


She was an avid reader and crossword puzzler, was a Campfire Girls leader, belonged to a bowling league, walked a great deal, and loved to travel with her husband, when they often visited casinos. She also enjoyed crocheting and crocheted many afghans for her children and grandchildren.


She is survived by three daughters, Janice (Anthony) Notario, Karen (Walter) Coury, and Julia (Bruce) Larson; eleven grandchildren, Beverly (Granville) Rose, Michael Notario, Matthew (Kelly) Notario, Andrew (Christine) Notario, Anthony Notario, II, Robert Coury, Lee-Anne (Alan) Brown, Ronald (Jennifer) Coury, Amy Larson, Steven (Nancy) Larson, Ann Larson; twenty one great-grandchildren, ten great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Jackson; her parents; four brothers, Harvey “Bud” Grunow, William “Bill” Grunow, Robert “Bob” Grunow, Fred Grunow, and three sisters, Elizabeth Grunow, Bertha Peck and Mary Weeman.


Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Wellspring Lutheran Services or ProMedica Hospice.

    the cosmos darkened with my aunt frances untimely passing….she was charming, wise, and dare we say irreplaceable she left a void no mere mortal can fill…….though she’s gone.,, this special aunt shall dwell forever in the hearts of those who loved her……

    I’ve know of Frances as a very loving and active person through her grandson Steve Larson and his mother and father since high school. By every account Frances was a lovely person who was very connected to her family, church and community. My condolences to Julia and Bruce Larson, of course Steve and his sisters Ann and Amy.
