Fara Mary (Badalamenti) Sulfaro

SulfaroFara M. Sulfaro, age 89, of Monroe, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, January 5.

Family and friends may visit from 2 until 8 p.m. on Monday, January 8 at Rupp Funeral Home where services will be held on Tuesday, January 9 at 11 a.m. Rev. Roy Southerland, pastor of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church will officiate. An Internment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Monroe.

Fara was a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She cared for her family and others first, before her own needs.

As a breast cancer survivor, she still managed to spend long hours in the kitchen, cooking and filling the table with her delicious platters of Italian dishes and homemade desserts. This was an expression of her love which we will dearly miss.

She enjoyed making crafts with flowers and birds to display or give as gifts. Still driving at the age of 85. She cherished her visits with her brother and sisters over a good cup of coffee and fresh donuts. In her younger years Fara worked at the Capital Grocery store and was the manager of the Star Market.

There she met the love of her life, the late Lee Sulfaro. They married on October 1, 1950 at St. Joseph’s Church in Monroe, where she was a lifetime member, and from that union came three children. Frank L. Sulfaro (deceased), Emanuel J (Dawn) Sulfaro and Grace A. (Mark) Heller. Fara also leaves behind 6 grandchildren, Daniel Parker, Justin (Chrissy) Heller, Cameron (Chelsea Swinkey) Sulfaro, Grant Heller and Alex Sulfaro and Nicola Sulfaro. Two great grandchildren, Mia Heller and Cecilia Sulfaro and one soon to be born great grandchild, coming this spring.

Surviving Fara is her sister Christine Evola and brother in law Ben Bullock.

She was proceded in death by her parents, Emanuel and Mary (Solomon) Badalamenti. Father and mother in law, Frank and Grace (Orlando) Sulfaro, Sister and brother in law, Josephine and Joe Sulfaro. Sister and brother in law, Annie and Nick DeFiore, sister Rose Bullock. Sister and brother in law, Mary and Glen Osborn, Brother and sister in law  Victor and Kathleen Badalamenti and brother in law Sam Evola.

    I’m so sorry that your mom has passed on. She was such a kind person and always put up with our silliness when I would spend the night with you. Losing a mom is so difficult. My prayers are with all of you. Julie and Fred
