Eva G. Wood, 89, of Monroe died at 7:31 p.m. Thursday at Mercy Memorial Hospital, Monroe she had been in poor health for 6 months.
Friends may call from 12 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Rupp Funeral Home where services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday. Rev. Paul C. Roemer, pastor of the First Wesleyan Church of Monroe will officiate and entombment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
Born February 1, 1921 in Monroe she was the daughter of Joel and Eva (Johnson) Mallicoat. She was married to J.T. Wood for over fifty-five years he preceded her in death on May 14, 1996.
She was employed at Consolidated Paper Company, south side plant for over thirty six years, retiring when the plant closed.
Her memberships included the First Wesleyan Church of Monroe, VFW Post 1138 Ladies Auxiliary, Monroe Senior Citizens Center, Frenchtown Senior Citizens and the RSVP. She volunteered for twenty-nine years at Mercy Memorial Hospital, the Lutheran Home and Medilodge of Monroe. She and J. T. loved to travel and visited Alaska, Hawaii and Australia.
Surviving is a niece Sherry Lynn Beck who took care of her for several years and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband J. T. sisters Jean Kostoff, Bertha Mallicoat and Dorothy McNutt, brothers Earl, Hollis, Lester and Eugene Mallicoat.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Wesleyan Church.
