Eugene W. Frick

August 7, 1924 – August 10, 2017

 

FrickEugene W. Frick, age 93, of Monroe, passed away peacefully at 7:15 a.m. Thursday at Wellspring Lutheran Services.

 

Family and friends may gather Saturday, August 12, 2017, from 11 a.m. until services at 1 p.m. at Rupp Funeral Home. Rev. Ross Ulrich, Pastor of Zion Lutheran Church, will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.

 

Born August 7, 1924, in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, he was the son of the late August and Hedwig (Ruess) Frick. Gene attended Mount Pleasant High School. He served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II at Okinawa and Iwo Jima, Japan, attaining the rank of Corporal and was the personal driver for Major General Bruno Hockmuth. Gene moved to Monroe in 1946, where he met his loving wife, Marlene E. Lerch, they were married on April 1, 1950 at Zion Lutheran Church, Monroe. This year they proudly celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. He began his employment with Ford Motor Company as a Press Operator and was soon promoted to a Water Plant Operator, where he spent the rest of his career. Gene retired from Ford after 36 years of service. He adored his four grandchildren: Kayleigh and Kyle White, and Carolyn and Christopher Milz. Gene loved to fish, play euchre, watch Tigers baseball and attend his grandchildren’s sporting events. He enjoyed telling stories, visiting with family and friends, and making homemade wine. Gene lived a long and happy life and was loved by many.

 

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Wellspring Lutheran Services for the tireless care they provided Gene.

 

To cherish his memory, Gene leaves his beloved wife of 67 years, Marlene; two daughters, Hollee (Steven) Milz of Livonia and Sheree (Dale) White of Monroe; his four grandchildren; and three siblings: Frank Frick, Rose Wilson and Clara Frick.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers: Joseph, August, Otto and Carl Frick.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project or Alzheimer’s/Dementia research.
